Cologne Game Lab

Description:

Founded in 2010, the CGL, an institute of the Faculty of Cultural Studies of TH Köln, has been on an expansion course for the last few years and is one of the most renowned educational offerings in the field of game development in Germany. In the winter semester 2015/16, with an extended team of nine professors, including internationally recognized scientists and artists, the new location at Mülheim’s Schanzenstrasse was launched. Students and teachers in one Bachelor’s (BA “Digital Game”) and Master’s (MA “Game Development and Research”, MA “Digital Games”, and MA “3D Animation for Film & Games”) programs engage with each other in the creation of virtual worlds and procedural narratives. Additionally, the CGL even works on Film and TV formats, in cooperation with the International Filmschule Köln.

Each year, a maximum of 40 and around 50 new students are admitted to the Bachelor’s Program and Master’s Programs, respectively. In 2019, the extension expansion brought the total number of concurrent students to 250. During the last application phase, nearly 800 applicants were competing for the available slots. Being internationally oriented, with the students hail from 45 nations, the institute provides instruction in English.

Ellinogermaniki Agogi

Description:

Ellinogermaniki Agogi (EA) is one of the most innovative schools in Europe with more than 60 years of operation. It has 2500 students (ages 5 to 18 years old) and 250 teachers in different disciplines. EA has a very strong vision-generated interest and rich research and development activity in the fields of Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE), Project Based Learning (PBL), and STEM education in combination with digital, online based learning environments and tools. Established in 1995, the Research and Development Department of EA is guiding the introduction of innovation in the school setting. The R&D Department acts as an interface between the pedagogical research, the technological innovation and the school community. It focuses on the design, implementation and support of pedagogical and technological innovation in educational practice, both through internal research as well as through collaborations with numerous educational, research and commercial institutions in Europe and the world. EA is an institutional member of EDEN (European Distance Education Network), of STEDE (Science Teacher Education Development in Europe), of ECSITE (European Network of Science Centres and Museums) network and a partner school of the German Excellence Network of STEM Schools “MINT-EC” (https://www.mint-ec.de/). The school operates, since 2001, a Center for Teachers Training, Certified from the Ministry of Education, to deliver course to teachers from East Attica (with physical presence) and from all over Greece (through distance learning).

European University Cyprus

Description:

European University Cyprus (EUC) was founded in 2007 and developed out of Cyprus College, which was established in 1961. Today, EUC operates five Schools, namely, the School of Humanities, Social and Education Sciences, the School of Business Administration, the School of Sciences, the Medical School, and the School of Law, with the mission to educate students for successful careers and life achievement, to understand and serve the needs of society, and to create knowledge through research and innovation. EUC has participated in more than 200 projects funded by a number of programs and organizations such as the Horizon2020, Erasmus+, 7th Framework Program, Lifelong Learning Programme 2007-2013, Directorates General of the European Commission, the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, United Nations, and governmental bodies. In the last 3 years, the University has accumulated approximately 4M euros in research funding, while it ranks third among the Cypriot universities in terms of total funding from Horizon2020 (first among private universities). Research activity is primarily carried out by a number of research centers, laboratories, and other kinds of specialized settings such as clinics and innovation centers (http://euc.ac.cy/en/research/research-centers), which, among others, include the Centre of Excellence in Innovation and Technology (CERIDES) that participates in this project.

International Hellenic University

Description:

Τhe Advanced Educational Technologies and Mobile Applications (AETMA) Lab was established in 2016. The research lab is part of the Computer Science Department of International Hellenic University of Greece.

The research of AETMA focuses on the following areas: the development of educational and e-learning software, Augmented / Mixed Reality applications and wearable technologies, mobile applications development & mobile learning, and technology enhanced learning,

Even though AETMA Lab is a new established Unit, its research team have a long term cooperation in the past, in a variety of EU and National projects 

AETMA has established collaborations with major players in the globe such as Khan Academy, WEKIT community, Athabasca Open University of Canada, JRC Seville,  CESI  France, hosting French students with full  scholarship, UNESCO -ConECT, Greece, Open University of Netherlands , Join Research Centre Disaster Risk Management Knowledge, Brussels, ViLi  project Erasmus +, Lancaster University UK, Queen Rania Foundation Jordan, European University of Cyprus, Kimmens  etc.

AETMA Lab has also created a number of AR/VR projects (i.e ARTutor, Trials of Acropolis, mLearn, AR in Education, Virtual School  and others) and it is annually organizing training seminars on emerging technologies, e-learning/technology enhanced learning and web programming.

Open University Of Cyprus

Description:

The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) is a public university dedicated to open and distance education. With an enrollment of approximately 4000 students in the 2019-2020 academic
year, and an alumni community reaching nearly 5,800 graduates, the Open University of Cyprus offers 23 programmes of studies organised by the University’s three faculties.
